STEP ONE — DISCOVER & DESIGN
We start by meeting with you in your home to understand your project, your ideas and, most importantly, how you want to live. We’ll talk through what isn’t working, what you love about your home, how you use your spaces and what you’d like to change. From there, our design team develops a thoughtful, unified plan for your home, including scaled floor plans, elevations and the details needed to bring the vision into focus.
The plans are yours to keep and use how you want, with no obligation to continue nor any gimmick locking you into our construction services.

STEP TWO — BUILD 
Ready to bring the plans to life? We’ll develop the construction scope, finalize the details and get your project ready to build.
Because our design and construction teams work together from the beginning, we can move seamlessly from concept to construction. Your project manager stays closely involved throughout the process, coordinating the trades, schedule and details that turn the plans into your home.

HammerSmith does things a little differently.

• We don’t require a deposit. You pay as work is completed, with weekly invoices that show you exactly where your money is going.
• Our accounting is open-book. You have visibility into the actual costs of your project, including what we are spending with trades and suppliers.
• Trades and suppliers are paid promptly. That keeps your project moving and helps us maintain strong relationships with the people doing the work.
• You stay in control. Because you can see the costs as the project progresses, there are fewer surprises at the end — and more opportunities to make informed decisions along the way.

And when we're working on a historic home, we bring more than design expertise. We help navigate the zoning requirements, historic ordinances and approvals that can make these projects more complicated.

Warner McConaughey founded HammerSmith in 1991 with a vision to bring honesty, simplicity, and integrity to an industry that can often feel complicated and overwhelming. For more than 30 years, he has helped shape HammerSmith into a trusted Atlanta design-build firm specializing in custom homes, home renovations, additions, and thoughtful remodeling.
