SIX STEPS TO GETTING STARTED

A project coordinator meets with you in your home to discuss the scope of your project, possible design solutions, a realistic budget, and a construction timeframe. You are presented with a Conceptual Design Contract to begin the design process.

After the design contract is signed, an in-house designer is assigned specifically to your project. The designer, your project coordinator, and the entire HammerSmith team work with you throughout. We explore your needs and priorities, take measurements and photos, and draw the Existing Conditions of your home.

HammerSmith then develops and presents various conceptual design possibilities for your home. We review the options with you and together synthesize the ideas into one unified Conceptual Plan within your budget parameters.

When you are ready to proceed, a Design Development and Intent To Build Contract is signed. This phase develops the conceptual plan three-dimensionally, including important details, finishes, fixtures, and lighting. A project manager is assigned to your project, and in-house craftsmen and associate tradesmen begin on-site inspections.

HammerSmith develops the Working Drawings, Scope of Work, and Specifications for your approval. The necessary permits, variances, engineering reports, certificates of appropriateness, and other possible legal requirements are handled in this phase. A detailed construction schedule and final estimate are produced.

The Renovation Contract is then presented for your approval. Because we reserve a construction slot for your project during the design process, construction usually begins soon after contract signing. The project coordinator and designer are on site regularly until construction is complete and your dreams have been fulfilled.
